I am not sure what the problem is with suggestion number one. Selecting a tab will expand the tree, if necessary, to reveal the folder for that tab and it will be highlighted in the tree pane. Number two is a real bugger though. Renaming a folder in the details pane is not mirrored in the tree pane ...
