I know this is an older post, but I just ran into this "deficiency" as well. According to other posts, this feature has been suggested and rejected by the author. http://explorerplusplus.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=7&t=650
If you use 7zip as your compression program, you can rename the .zip files to .7z and it will still open properly in 7zip but will no longer show in the treeview. It's a quick and dirty hack, but it works.

About zip files, in options, files & folders tab, you can check (or uncheck) the "open zip files in explorer++".
I know this is not what's asked, but i think it was important enought to notice this feature.

Yes, I need an option to exclude zip file from the folder pane, too.
It is a file; not a folder.
