thumbnails show wrong image

My Explorer++ sometimes shows the incorrect thumbnails for images (and maybe folders but I can't confirm yet). I can't tell if this is a bug or pebkac so here I post.
I am using Windows 7 and accessing a NAS folder. There are 100s to 1000s of images on the NAS, in various folders.
Thumbs appear to be correct while they are being loaded; a portion of them "flip" to an incorrect image after all of them have loaded.
Sometimes, I think after reboot, all thumbs are correct and they don't flip. After some time browsing thumbs, they start going wrong again.
When I refresh the view inside a particular folder with wrong thumbs, the reloaded thumbs stay correct until I leave that folder.
Please see the attached image that shows a view of a folder with wrong images, and the same folder after refreshing. The thumbs that show folders are wrong, as well as 'A3' and 'H5' (in Battleship/spreadsheet terms), which show thumbs of images from other folders on the same drive.
I hope there's a fix for this. I'm also interested in any alternative way to browse thumbnails in a NAS folder.
P.S. I'm new to Explorer++ and I think it's really cool. I picked it up when Win 7's file explorer started to fail to load random thumbnails (many many failed, and refresh didn't help either, chronic problem apparently recognized by MS and community and no real solution).
