strange error message

Post by iljur »

Hi there,
since 1 or 2 weeks (don´t really remember) every time I start explorer++ I get an error message telling me "Procedure entry "IsThreadDesktopComposited" in DLL "USER32.dll" not found."

After clicking "OK" everything seems to work fine. But the message sucks of course.

My sytem is Windows XP with latest patches installed. Maybe one of the latest patches changed the USER32.dll?!

Thanks for any suggestions.

No question about Windows is stupid - sometimes I think Windows is stupid!

Looks like the culprit might be Internet Explorer 7; have a look at this thread on the web.
This was found in Google searching for IsThreadDesktopComposited.

Hope you can solve it!

P.S. I run Window XP with SP3, but NOT Internet Explorer (never use it, never updated it). I can't find dwmapi.dll anywhere on my system!

Allen,

THANK YOU for your reply. The hint in that forum thread did the job. Maybe I googled the wrong key words...

Just renamed the "dwmapi.dll" and the message is gone. Other programs that depend on that file will let me know... :D

In my case this "dwmapi.dll" cannot have come along with IE7 because it is not installed (You know why... ;) )! Don´t know where it came from.

Again thank you for your answer!!
