[0.9.3.2] F6 Key to navigate between panes

Post by preechaw »

I believe most of the keyboard shortcuts are defined like those of Windows Explorer in order make it very friendly to Windows Explorer users.

One key that I use very often is F6. The F6 key moves focus rect around the panes.
F6 is not handled by Explorer++.

May I request that the team check all key behaviors in Windows Explorer and try to implement them in Explorer++?

Thank you.

F6 isn't handled, but you should be able to cycle forwards and backwards through the windows using tab and shift+tab (I'll make sure F6 also works in the next version however). About the key behaviours, there's no team (it's just me), but I'll take a look at it ;) If you know of any other key combinations that are unimplemented, feel free to post them here.

[Context Menu]
Another handy key is the Context Menu key. It's next to the right Ctrl key.
Shift+F10 also works similary to the Contect Menu key.

If you set focus to one or more objects in a folder view and press Shift+F10 or press the Context Menu key,
the context menu will pop up as if you right click those objects.

[Open Object in a New Tab]
Ctrl+Enter in tabbed browsers will open the selected link in a new tab. This will be cool in Explorer++ too.

[Open Object in a New Window]
Shift+Enter in Windows Explorer will open the selected folder in a new window in some cases.
I believe this is cool also.

[Find Files and Folders]
F3 in Windows Explorer brings up the Search pane.

[Close Current Tab]
Ctrl+F4 in tabbed browsers works the same way as Ctrl+W.

[Full Screen Mode]
F11 brings Windows Explorer to full screen mode (or back from full screen mode to normal mode).

If I can think of other keyboard shortcuts, I'll come back to this post.
Cheers.

Another key is handy to copy the current folder path.

How about Ctrl+Shift+P for copy path to clipboard?

I found another missing key behavior.
In Windows Explorer, you can make non-contiguous selection with keyboard.

How to:
1. Open a folder that contains at least 3 objects.
2. Press Home to select the first object.
3. Hold down Ctrl, press the Down arrow key twice, and press Spacebar to select the thirs object.

This cannot be done in Explorer++ 0.9.3.2.
